Safeguarding Lead
Mission of the role
The Enko Child Safeguarding Lead (CSL) is responsible for ensuring the highest level of student safety and well-being in the school. They are the go-to person for all child safeguarding issues for other members of staff, parents and students.
The Child Safeguarding Lead serves as the bridge between the school, families, external authorities, and the Enko Central Team to ensure that the Enko Child Safeguarding Policy is not just a document, but a lived practice.
Key Responsibilities
Prevention & Training
- Policy Champion: Serve as the expert on the Enko Child Safeguarding Policy, ensuring it is understood and applied by all staff, contractors, and volunteers.
- Training Delivery: Deliver engaging safeguarding induction and refresher training for staff, students, parents, contractors, volunteers and trainees.
- Community awareness: ensure safeguarding visibility throughout the physical and digital school environment (posters, assemblies, security access control)
- Digital Safety: Promote awareness regarding online risks, cyberbullying and digital management among students.
The Safeguarding Lead is responsible for reporting all child safeguarding matters in the school and for supporting the School Leadership in investigating and addressing reported issues. They ensure the school community is aware of the Enko Education Safeguarding policy and that it is applied.
Case Management & Intervention
- First Responder: Act as the primary point of contact for any safeguarding concerns for staff, students, and parents.
- Communicate Child Safeguarding incidences withHead of School, HR and the Group Safeguarding manager in a timely manner.
- Triage & Referral: Assess incoming disclosures professionally. Make timely referrals to external agencies (police, social services, medical & counselling teams, central office) when statutory thresholds are met.
- Investigation Support: Lead with investigations to make sure they are fair and follow the Enko process.
- Holistic Context: Build relationships with families to understand the context behind behavioural changes, ensuring a "whole child" approach to safety.
Reporting & Record Keeping
- Rigorous Documentation: Ensure 100% of incidents (low to high level) are recorded via the official online reporting form within 24 hours.
- Confidentiality: Maintain secure, confidential records that document the concern, the action taken, and the outcome.
- Data Monitoring: Collate and analyse data on incidents to identify trends (e.g., bullying hotspots) and report these to the Head of School and Central Team.
Group Contribution
- System Design: Actively participate in advancing and improving the Enko Education Child Safeguarding Policy and training.
- Peer Support: Share best practices with CSLs in other Enko schools and participate in group-wide meetings.
This person will work closely with the Head of School and the Central team (Child Safeguarding Manager).

- Active Listening: The skill to listen to children and adults without judgment, asking open questions to establish facts without leading the witness.
- Resilience: The capacity to work under pressure and manage the emotional toll of safeguarding work (with support from leadership).
- Discretion: Unwavering commitment to confidentiality and data protection principles.
- Confident Facilitator: Demonstrates the ability and willingness to deliver safeguarding training to staff with clarity, confidence, and credibility, fostering engagement and understanding across diverse audiences.
- Collaborative Mindset: Proactively builds and maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. HR, co-curricular teams, and leadership), identifying opportunities to integrate safeguarding practices across all areas of the organisation.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the education sector.
- Existing staff member with a clean disciplinary record.
- Complete fluency in English and French-depending on country.
This role is critical to ensuring student safety and the school’s ability to create and sustain a safe environment, effectively respond to safeguarding concerns, and restore safety when incidents occur; as such, it requires a candidate able to commit to a minimum tenure of two years and to fulfil the full notice period should they choose to leave the position.
Badge condition:
- 10% of gross salary paid monthly

- Team spirited: good communication with the central, HoS and other Child Safeguarding Leads is mandatory. Active participation in meetings and sharing of best practices with other schools is also required.
- Caring: Each student and family must feel that they are in an environment of trust. You should be accessible enough for people to come and talk about their child safeguarding concerns.
- Committed: child safeguarding can be a delicate topic; you have to be able to actively listen to others without judgment or prejudice. You demonstrate patience and focus rather than letting emotions cloud judgment.
